“Designing for the future: trends we need to consider now” – Annual Blogging Contest

This blog post is a part of Design Blogger Competition organized by CGTrader

Fashion is an art and we- people of the society, are its canvas. Like any art form, fashion has its connoisseur but the beauty of fashion lies in its appeal to the masses. Fashion knows no borders, and defines every generation in a unique sense.

Fashion has its own soul and it evolves with the changing need of the society. As a race, humankind is sitting on the pinnacle of globalization, technological breakthroughs, consumerism, wanting for more.  Fashion, in particular has always been linked with hedonism, the school of thought that allows for creating unprecedented need to derive pleasure in life , but sadly, this pleasure may come at a certain cost. We have now started to recognize that  the resources our nature provides us, do not replenish themselves at the same pace as we are depleting them. Every now and then we read about the ugly business of fashion which involves polluting the rivers, salvery, and many other ethical issues.

The impact of fashion industry on our environment and society is huge and it is absolutely necessary that the trends for the future design should be dictated by ethical and eco-hedonism. The concept of  “sustainability” is seemingly well placed in many industries. However, Fashion industry really needs to catch up. The good news is that approaching fashion from a sustainable point of view is no longer an alien concept. There are many small brands that have taken the path of ethical and conscious designs. The bad news is “fast fashion” still rules the majority of masses.

I personally believe, the trend  we need to consider in terms of designing the future, are  minimalism and sustainability . I also believe that minimalism is a life philosophy and not an easy trend to catch on, and that is why we need even more fashion brands to produce clothings and accessories that have lower impact on the environment.

Currently, sustainable fashion is only for the few intellectual elites. They are good people who care for the world but they can also afford such fashion. The future trend should be making sustainable fashion accessible to the masses. This can only be done if prices are affordable and this will only happen when more and more fashion brands adopt the eco-hedonistic school of thought.  It is all about recognizing the need and filling the gap.

As a fashion enthusiast and consumer, I promise shopping feels so much worthwhile if I know my money is not turning into blood money and that through my humble purchase I am contributing to making the environment better. Fashion businesses must make use of this feel-good emotion of the consumer by allowing them with more ethical fashion choices which are also affordable to buy.

5 hacks to your rescue, if you are an impulsive shopper…

Hey guys, have you had a day when nothing was working out well for you since morning. You had a very non-productive day so far. To distract yourself you wasted some time on social media , by seeing some images, you  couldn’t help but compare your entire life with someone you did not even know. You felt so sick of yourself that without even noticing, you picked your bag and went off to the shopping area in your town/ city. After couple of hours you came back bag full of clothes you did not need, shoes that were on sale, bags that you thought were trendy but had no clue where to store them as you are running out of space in your closet.

Well I want to believe that there are some of you out there who have similar story to share because this is a true story from my life six months ago. I know it sounds bad, but I wanted to share it on the blog in hope that it helps someone who think it is impossible to break the habit of impulsive shopping. I will tell you 5 hacks that helped me come clean 😉

Disclaimer: These hacks worked on me for two reasons: (1) I was NOT in denial that I am an impulsive shopper. (2) I wanted to make an effort to stop doing what I was doing. Continue reading

Soul and Sanity : Cheers to LIFE !

In the midst of craziness called life, there are moments that call for attention. Life has a tendency to go off-balance every now and then, and most of us spend all our lives figuring out and trying ways to bring some balance in our lives. Along the process, we fall, we fail, we learn, we grow, we regret, we feel hurt, we feel all these overwhelming emotions and all this happens as time is still running on …we may feel that our life is stuck and isn’t going in any direction but time moves on and so our life …then comes the moment when we heal from the past and somehow get courage to look back and see how far we have come along the way and how much we have grown out of the situation that once made us feel that our life is over… Continue reading

Book review: The Calling Unleash your true self by Priya Kumar

Hey all,

Hope you all are doing great.  This post is about the book review as the title suggests but as I am a self-proclaimed talker I will share snippets from my own life first and then move on to the book. so please feel free to scroll down to the end  of the post for the book review in case the post is too long for you -xoxo

December is a great month, the chill in the air, festive lights on the streets, the cheer around local christmas market and holidays coming up, surely makes December a great month of the year.

Also many of us go into all introspective mood and look back into the year and realize there is so much we wanted to do and there is so much still left to do. I am for sure one of those people who walk on the bridging line between philosophy and practicality of life. In the past I had been lost, failed at many occassions but have always bounced back and that is why I call myself blessed. I truly believe in the saying that “if you want something desperately in your life, the universe makes it happen”. You know that the Universe is doing the job when you start getting spiritual guidance in everyday sense. You start believeing in hardwork and sincerity like never before, your heart fills up with hope which is nothing  less than a magic potion really. Continue reading

Instrospection, Autumn and Midi-fever

Please feel free to scroll down to the very end to avoid the rant if you like, outfit pictures are at the end 🙂

so here the short rant begins …

I would be very happy if nobody has noticed it yet that I have failed to upload posts on regular basis, but I for sure know that I indeed have failed in that front. I know it is almost like committing blog-suicide. No matter how much I wanted  it to happen, I have not been able to post a certain blogpost on a certain day and time. As I thought more about it, my rational mind told me three things straight off: Continue reading

Fashion Blogs losing their essence. Really ?

Warning: Longread and no pictures 🙂

Fashion blogging is pretty saturated, this is what we read these days. But I will not dwell on it today.

I am instead compelled to streamline my  thoughts on  the changing environment of the fashion and lifestyle blogging world.

I read a few posts (by Indian bloggers) which talk about how most new bloggers are generic with no distinct taste and style. This made me think on this whole issue of changes that fashion blogging has seen recently and how unfair it is to judge new bloggers in the block for getting the blogging wrong.

Well, I have been an avid blog follower and reader since 2009-2010. I always believed that one thing that made blog -a blog – was the freedom to own it and use it as your creative space. And creative abilities my differ from person to person. NONE of those blogs were anyway meant for making money because, simply put, there was no market AVAILABLE for the blogs.
